We’re not entirely happy with preparations for the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend! Also, capitalism has some serious downsides.
This week, we discuss Walt Disney’s love of railroad trains, and other forms of track-based public transit.
This episode was inspired by the book Walt and the Promise of Progress City, by Sam Gennawey. We’ve got an extra copy to give away! To enter the giveaway, go to our Facebook page and comment on the post announcing this episode; after one week, we’ll pick a name at random to win the book.
We also are joined in this podcast not only by Trace and Greg, but also by the loudest pug in the wilderness, Roxxy. She’s especially noticeable at about 21 minutes into the show. Let me tell you, people who are light sleepers should not have pugs in the house.
Thank you for listening to “the lunatic ramblings of a conspiracy theorist” of the Disney podcast scene. We are so proud!
This week, we talk about Adam the Woo and Escape from Tomorrow: Behaving badly? Illegally? Unethically? Also some side notes about RFIDs.
- Adam the Woo talks about getting banned
- Local Orlando news segment about Adam the Woo and friends
- Escape from Tomorrow
- Escape from Tomorrow clip
- Bansy’s Guantanamo Bay-related installation at Disneyland
- The Streisand effect
- Jentasmic columns at Studios Central:
This week we return triumphant with the first part of 2 weeks worth of trip reports from Reunion 2012. The Watchamacallit is with us this week as we recount their day at Magic Kingdom before Cat#2 got to town and Meal. Of. Fortune.
A big shout out to the guys at WDW Today (who are awesome), all the podcasters/bloggers we got to say hi to and of course, our fellow Disney geeks, there to revel in the magic and remind us that, just because you are sharing a room with your friend, that doesn’t mean you are sleeping together (not that there is anything wrong with that).
Oh yeah, EGGPLANT OF DOOM.
*It seems to me that “and” shouldn’t be capitalized but it just doesn’t look right. Should you not capitalize “it” as well? I have no idea.
Disney’s cutting back Extra Magic Hour evenings from 3 hours to 2 hours. What do we think? Will it affect how we spend our vacation dollars?
Here’s a link to the story we mention on disZine, though of course lots of the internet is exploding with news about this.
If all goes as planned, by the time you’re reading this Jennifer will be at Walt Disney World for an impromptu, planned-on-short-notice solo trip! So of course we end up talking about chicken and waffles for at least 5 minutes.
Jennifer’s looked at the waffle sandwiches posted on Andy’s blog, and thinks the fruit one looks kinda nice, but still can’t get past the whole syrup-on-chicken issue. Will she try one on this trip? Only time will tell.
And all that talk during the show about how Jennifer will have nobody to hang out with for her whole trip? Well yeah . . . as she’s writing these show notes, she’s already got plans to get together with a friend one evening, and might even record a podcast episode with her. Thank you, internets!
If you’re going to be at Disneyland August 3-5, 2012, check out the Friends of the Magic Meet! We can’t be there ourselves, but we’ve donated Mickey Mouse chocolate bars.
Welcome to another rousing episode in which the last minute pre-half preparations are discussed as well as the high cost of meat and ticket media. Good luck to all the runners and supporters out there this weekend and please watch out for my husbands toe.
