Donald’s Birthday is being celebrated all over the place, even on Those Darn Cats! We begin with a little project we’ve been working on for a while – who says we’ve all had enough with all the Disney podcasts? Certainly not Cats 1 & 2!  In our discussion segment, we are joined by the Whatchamacallit in discussing Donald’s 75th.  In the podcast, you might also hear about:

Momentarily inspired by Cat#2’s latest podcast earworm, the Cats did a little research and attempt to discuss all things Earworm! Then we revisit the poetry corner and hear from the former Poet Laureate of the United States, Billy Collins (whose spoken word CDs are fabulous!)  entitled “More Than a Woman” – yes, he means the song. Earworm! You’re welcome

He also offers a “cure” for earworms at the end of the show. If Mr. Collins’ suggestion do not help you, try this.

A special shout out here on the blog to listener Michelle who lives in the big northern mitten (that would be Michigan). She spotted the following treasure on sale and sent it into the Cats - he talks!!!!!!!!

We then hear a little “vintage” Disneyland audio, including what is listed as “Disneyland’s ‘Blast from the Past’” parade. This is what I found of corresponding name and date on youtube:

This video, clearly not the parade in its entirety, contains very little of the audio in the “official” recording we’ve included on this week’s show. The audio is intriguing as I am trying to imagine what characters are doing in some of these scenes. The video seems to show some of those characters I imagined on floats doing numbers running along before and after floats (note to DL parade developers: put the CHARACTERS on the floats, not the weird people dressed up like musical notes. hello??). Anyways, who knew there were Disney parades featuring the Three Stooges?

And no, Jennifer’s not just talking out of school about those Starbucks caffiene levels. Check this out, from Slate:

The Wall Street Journal earlier this year sent samples of coffee from Starbucks, 7-Eleven, and Dunkin’ Donuts to Central Analytical Laboratories. The lab reported that a 16-ounce Starbucks house blend coffee contained 223 milligrams of caffeine, compared with 174 and 141 milligrams in comparable amounts of Dunkin’ Donuts and 7-Eleven coffee, respectively. According to the Journal, the average Starbucks coffee drink contains 320 milligrams of caffeine.

And that little bit of Japanese Mickey Mouse at the end of the podcast? It’s Mickey’s answering machine, from Tokyo Disneyland’s Toontown. Woot!
